I have mentioned Drunk Elephant in a couple of posts here in Stash Dupes Part 3 and here in What’s Up Wednesday. I am going to focus on my favorite product of theirs in this post and review the B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel. This can be bought alone for $52 or in a couple of kits that have come out for the Holidays: Let’s B Clear (Sephora $82) or a mini size in the Day Glow set ($23) and C-ing is Believing (Dermstore $83). I was drawn to this for Fall and Winter for a couple of reasons: I was in the market for a hyaluronic acid, I have sensitive skin, and I wanted something that I could easily add into my skin routine without changing everything up. #thisfithebill On a positive note this is also silicone free. Let’s take a closer look and I’ll tell you how I use it because it is a very versatile product!
Packaging– The packaging is great because it has a twist up pump and an opaque white plastic bottle to keep your product air free and light free as possible because these two things will cause your active ingredients to break down more quickly. This is why it’s so annoying that a lot of companies put expensive eye creams in a jar! You get 1.69 oz of gel in the bottle, which is average for a moisturizer in the skin care industry. One pump from the bottle will give you what you need for your entire face.
Product- This is a water based gel that is supposed to hydrate the skin with Vitamin B5 as well as other beneficial skin ingredients such as pineapple ceramides. This is also a fragrance and dye free formula. It is indeed lightweight and gel in texture. It dries down quickly and is absorbed easily into the skin without a sticky or oily feeling. It’s a sheer light moisturizer that I think oily guys and gals could use by itself. This product tends to normalize the skin and never makes it feel oily even later in the day. If you are dry this is a great layering piece to a moisturizer you were maybe using in the summer and now that the weather is changing your skin needs something more. This is how I have been using it.
How I Use It- Like I mentioned above, I have been using this almost as a serum- layered with other products. I use it both day and night. I noticed at the end of September my skin was getting all crazy #thatsanofficialterm so I wanted something light that wouldn’t weigh my other skin care down, clog my pores, or make me oily. #itsstillhotouttherepeople In the morning, after washing my face or swiping it down with my bioderma, I apply my C serum, then my B-Hydra, then my eye cream and then whatever moisturizer I’m going to wear that day (First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 Face Cream with SPF 30) or Cerave Lotion. At night, after removing makeup/washing my face, I apply my acid for exfoliation (either AHA or BHA) then I apply the B-Hydra mixed with Acure Marula Oil or the B-Hydra with Cerave Lotion layered on top, then eye cream. This has really helped normalize my skin and keep it hydrated and not oily! I feel like this is a gel that I will be able to use in the Summer by itself as well as in the winter under a heavier moisturizer then I am using now. #soversatile
Here are some images of the Let’s B Clear set as well as the Marula oils I talked about in the Stash Dupes 3 post!
Overall I am really liking this product and it’s great for skin in all seasons! I will give you the link to the beautypedia review here and you can look down below to see what Sephora has to say- you might want to add it to your VIB Sale wishlist 🙂
